A LEADER BY DAY, A CEO 24/7

As we celebrate an Iconic Lawyer and Founder of Buifabrics and Buiaccessories. Allow us to dive into her world of being a 9-5 by day and an Entrepreneur 24/7

What inspired you to start your journey in the fabric industry, and how has the brand evolved over the years?

“My fascination with fashion began as a child. I loved creating clothes inspired by music videos on MTV, translating what I saw into tangible designs that weren’t available in the market. Over time, I evolved from sourcing fabrics for clients to establishing Buifabrics—a brand synonymous with luxury and innovation. Today, Buifabrics is a leader in the fabric industry, offering unique textiles and fostering creativity in fashion.”

Could you share some key challenges you’ve faced as a CEO and how you’ve navigated them?

“Operating in Nigeria’s dynamic environment has its challenges, particularly with foreign exchange fluctuations and the evolving economic climate. These issues have pushed me to think creatively about meeting clients’ needs while maintaining affordability. Instead of seeing challenges as roadblocks, I view them as opportunities to innovate, adapt, and connect more deeply with our clients.”

What sets your brand apart from other fabric brands in the market?

“Buifabrics is distinguished by its immersive social media presence and commitment to customer experience. From our quick response times to our fully functional website, we’ve made it easy for clients to explore and purchase luxury fabrics online. My personal passion for fashion trends allows me to curate fabrics that enable our clients to recreate their favorite runway looks effortlessly.”

How do you see the fabric industry evolving in the next 5 to 10 years, and where do you see your brand fitting into that future?

“The fabric industry is moving towards greater personalization and innovation. I foresee clients designing custom fabrics with merchants and designers creating their own in-house stores. Buifabrics is prepared to evolve by enhancing our product offerings, providing styling services, and potentially launching ready-to-wear or made-to-measure collections. As an innovator, I plan to ensure Bui remains at the forefront of these industry shifts.”

Innovation is key in any industry. How does your brand stay ahead of trends and push boundaries in fabric design and production?

“Innovation for me starts with asking: ‘What would I love to wear and feel on my skin?’ That mindset inspires me to find fabrics that not only look beautiful but also feel luxurious and unique. Buifabrics thrives by anticipating trends and creating pieces that resonate with our clients’ needs and aspirations.”

What are some of the key values that drive your brand’s mission, and how do you ensure those values are reflected in the products and your company culture?

“Integrity is at the heart of Buifabrics. We are committed to quality, trust, and transparency—values that guide every interaction with our clients. In our company culture, we prioritize teamwork, continuous learning, and a client-first approach to ensure these principles are lived daily.”

What do we expect from the BUI Brand in 2025?

“The coming year will see Bui expanding its offerings and pushing boundaries in the fabric and accessories markets. We plan to launch new collections, explore innovative collaborations, and strengthen our online presence to better serve our clients globally.”

It’s your birthday today! How do you usually like to celebrate, and is there any special tradition you follow?

“I love celebrating with my family and close friends. My siblings and I share a unique tradition of joint celebrations since two of them are also January-born. On my actual birthday, I enjoy intimate moments, but I usually plan something bigger on the weekend.”

Looking back on your career, is there a moment or lesson that has truly influenced your approach to business?

“While I can’t pinpoint a single moment, the overarching lesson I’ve learned is that everything is figure-outable. No matter how challenging a situation may seem, solutions always exist if you’re willing to adapt, innovate, and stay resilient.”

What personal qualities or life experiences do you think have shaped your leadership style?

“I’ve had the privilege of working under incredible bosses early in my career, who showed genuine interest in my growth. Their leadership styles, attention to detail, and mentorship shaped my approach today. I believe in fostering an environment where my team feels supported and inspired to excel.”

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

“You are unique, talented, and enough. Stop looking outside yourself for inspiration or trying to replicate others. There’s no one like you, and your potential is limitless. Be bold, be true, and think big!”

What are your hopes and goals, both personally and professionally, for the coming year?

I want to continue building my personal brand, expand Bui’s presence, and pursue academic opportunities that enhance my professional and entrepreneurial skills. This year is about growth, impact, and reaching new heights.
